BLOW OUT THE CANDLE SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO USE THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER

If we want to change the world we live in for the better, we have to practice proactive leadership.
Our society is reactive but the answer to growth as people is not finding the strength to respond to the problem, the answer to growing as people lies in finding the strength to never let the problem happen in the first place. Think of exercise, is it easier to exercise regularly or recover from a stroke, from a heart attack, from arthritis, or from obesity? Most people choose the risk of not exercising; we choose lack of discipline then complain about the consequences. We choose exercise when it is too late.
Think of any hot political topic, is the conversation about the results of our actions or the root of the problem? We choose to talk about solving the consequences of our actions before we think about changing the actions that lead us to the problem. We choose the fire extinguisher rather than taking the time to blow out the candle.
Change does not need to occur on a grand political scale. The proactive approach to change starts with us: in our home, in our work space, in our small sphere of influence, in our day to day actions. Lead a proactive life and in doing so, unconsciously inspire others to do the same.
As always, start small, start simple, and start today.
